On Wednesday, March 14th, MSI held a marriage conference for local pastors and their wives in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Mike Silva and Jim Williams (Dr. Jaime Miron) were the featured speakers, encouraging and challenging the full roster of 47 couples in attendance. This was such an important conference for the local ministry community. At the end of the teaching, pastors in attendance told MSI staff that they were surprised how much the bible has to say about marriage, particularly that it holds so much practical advice.
This conference wasn’t without it’s challenges, however. As many of you know, there is a strike occurring that has been shutting down the few roads in and out of Matagalpa. We are hearing rumors that it will be opened soon (praise God!), but nothing is confirmed yet so we are still asking for fervent prayers from around the world for the road to open up before the festival on Saturday. Along the same lines, the enemy is finding other ways to attack the powerful work that is being done here. The hotel in which the conference was held lost power from the city the morning of the conference, so the lights and sound system had to run on a generator. Throughout the morning, however, the generator kept shutting down, shutting off all of the lights and sound during worship and teaching. Mike and Dr. Miron were un-phased, however, and continued preaching in the dark to the captivated and patient audience, with the lights and sound flickering on and off throughout the entire day.
Here Mike preaches to the audience using a translator.
Dr. Jaime Miron delivered a powerful and practical message in Spanish regarding the unity of marriage. Miron did an amazing job speaking all day long throughout the difficulties with the electricity.
Thank you to the hard work of the staff who tirelessly maintained the generator all day long!
We are so thankful for the amazing staff, the wonderful pastors and their wives, and the prayers from around the world that were able to overcome the difficulties of the day!
